
IPMA SOUTH AFRICA AWARDS 2024
The International Project Management Association (IPMA) held its Global Awards Gala on November 29, 2024, in Cape Town, South Africa, celebrating outstanding achievements in project management. The event introduced the inaugural National IPMA South Africa Awards, honouring exceptional project management within the country.

The 2024 IPMA SA awards program consisted of 3 categories:
The Young Project Manager of the Year Award
recognises emerging talent in the project management field. It highlights those who not only show immense potential early in their careers but also demonstrate a clear ability to lead innovative projects that deliver significant impact. By celebrating these young professionals, the award helps foster a future generation of leaders who are not just skilled in project management, but also have the vision and drive to inspire others.
This award is an incredible motivator for young project managers to push the boundaries of what's possible in their careers. It’s also a great way to show that innovation and dedication don't have to wait until later in one’s career to make a difference.

Young Project Manager of the Year Winner for 2024 was awarded to Setsabile Manana, from the City of Cape Town, for her work done on the IRT Phase 2A Project.
The Project Manager of the Year Award
recognises exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and the ability to navigate complexities to achieve extraordinary outcomes. It highlights individuals who not only deliver successful projects but also do so with a mindset that drives innovation and fosters collaboration across teams. The Project of the Year Award winner for 2024 was awarded to the Portions of Jakes Gerwel Drive in in Cape Town, led by Ian Bowker from the City of Cape Town. The project is indicative of how impactful urban development and infrastructure projects can be. This project is particularly significant in the context of urban revitalization, addressing the need for modern, efficient transportation infrastructure that not only enhances the city's mobility but also improves accessibility for communities.

The completion of key portions of Jakes Gerwel Drive involved intricate planning, engineering, and design work. It highlights innovation in urban planning and showcases a transformative impact on the city’s infrastructure.
